Experience in Project Estimation and Proposals – layout preparation, Conceptual knowledge of design basis for individual equipment in Piping, pipeline systems for Utility, fire lines, chillers, cooling towers, pumps etc.
The Cost and Estimation Engineer in the piping industry is responsible for analyzing project requirements, preparing cost estimates, and developing detailed proposals for piping systems projects. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, industry knowledge, and strong analytical skills to accurately forecast project costs, manage budgets, and support project planning and execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Estimation and Budgeting:
o Develop accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for piping projects, including material, labor, equipment, and overhead costs.
o Utilize industry-standard estimating software and tools to prepare detailed cost reports.
o Analyze project drawings, specifications, and other documentation to identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
o Review and update cost estimates based on changes in project scope or specifications.
Tender and Proposal Preparation:
o Prepare technical and commercial proposals for bidding on piping projects.
o Collaborate with the project team and other departments to ensure the accuracy and completeness of tender submissions.
o Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and reliable quotes.
o Provide technical clarification and support during the bidding and negotiation phase.
Project Analysis and Risk Assessment:
o Conduct cost analysis and identify risks associated with the project execution phase.
o Monitor cost performance during the project lifecycle and suggest corrective actions as needed.
o Prepare cost tracking reports and forecast potential budget overruns.
o Assess and review change orders, including cost impact analysis.
Supplier and Subcontractor Management:
o Evaluate and select suppliers and subcontractors based on cost-effectiveness and reliability.
o Maintain relationships with key suppliers and ensure competitive pricing agreements.
o Liaise with subcontractors to manage cost proposals and track their progress on specific project segments.
Technical Support and Collaboration:
o Collaborate with design engineers, project managers, and construction teams to ensure cost-effective solutions during the design and construction phases.
o Participate in project meetings to provide cost-related insights and updates.
o Assist in value engineering efforts to find cost-effective methods without compromising quality and safety standards.
o Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all cost estimation documentation.
o Prepare detailed cost analysis reports and present findings to project stakeholders.
o Document and track lessons learned for future project cost estimation and planning.
Skills require: Microsoft Excel, working knowledge in AutoCAD.
Qualification: Diploma/BE Mechanical Engineering
